Witchcraft to Cult to Eternal Life with Christ

 Nicaragua Team - March 2017
RtH Team hits the streets of Diriomo, Nicaragua to reclaim the community
for Christ. God used these faithful warriors to lead hundreds to Christ
and to help launch a new church!
Amazing Week
Jose has been a taxi driver for over 30 years. As he shared the history of Diriomo, I can see the sadness in his eyes. He recounted what it was like growing up in a city known for black magic and witchcraft. He said, "We just got caught up in it. As a teen I went deeper and deeper into spells, sacrifices, and abuse. I watched the way this darkness changed my city into one of  prostitution, drugs, and corruption.  About 30 years ago hundreds of Americans came and shared their testimonies of God. Many of us grabbed onto the hope they gave us and were delivered and saved  from the depths of hell.

As we continued to talk with Jose and share Scripture with him we begin to hear discrepancies in his beliefs about Christianity.  He was confused as to why we placed such emphasis on Scripture.  By the time we read Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death and the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Jose was weeping. He said, "Now I understand the Truth.  I haven't been a Christian these past 30 years, I have been involved with a Cult."  We lead Jose in a simple life changing prayer that day. We believe he's going to be instrumental in reaching out to his friends who have been similarly deceived.

Each day our team divided into 6 smaller teams. Two Americans and a Nicaraguan  translator.  We canvased hundreds of homes sharing the Gospel and we were led to pray with many.  Several evenings we hosted outreaches to bless the children and we saw a huge number of children respond to the Gospel.  The people of Diriomo were so receptive!  Each evening, the debrief time sounded like a chapter out of the New Testament, conversions, healings, dangerous adventures and divine appointments!

Thank you for your prayers... your prayers paved the way for our team! Now, let's pray together for the church launching team as they follow-up on all those that gave their lives to Christ.   And, please pray for our friend Jose.  Pray that the Lord will use this 62 year old new believer to reclaim his city for Christ!

Nicaragua Mission Trip - Nov 13-22, 2016

God blessed us with an amazing time of ministry with Jaime & Monica Arista at Campo Gonia Ministries in Nicaragua. I asked Randy Fain, who has been working on water wells since he was 10-years-old, to go with me to meet with some water well drillers.  I prearranged 4 meetings with various organizations that drill wells in the area we'll be working in. Our strategy was a win-win strategy.

We would help them fix any broken equipment, teach them drilling techniques, or help them with needed repairs in exchange for the use of their rigs, or having them drill a few wells for us.  As expected, each organization we met with... Living Water, Amigos for Christ, Leon Rotary Club, and a few local drilling businesses had challenges with their equipment. Each person we met with was so impressed with Randy's knowledge and experience, andthey were all excited about a possible partnership.  This would be a tremendous blessing for our Reaching the Hungry ministry partners to get water wells drilled at a minimum cost.  One of the organizations needed to learn air power drilling, which Randy happens to be an expert at, and another organization needed to replace all their hydraulic hoses, (estimated cost $50,000), but Randy could teach them how to make their own hoses saving them $25,000. Plus, when their hoses fail on the job site they would be able to make a new hose in 15 minutes saving them 3-weeks in down time.  Win-win, we teach them how to save time & money, and they drill a well or two for us.

I had the opportunity to teach Campo Gonia's Wednesday Bible study.  Jaime taught at a local church on Sunday morning, and than we visited a men's rehab ranch.  At the ranch four men accepted Christ and 12 men re-dedicated their lives to Christ.  It was an amazing time of ministry to their men.  We originally went to the ranch to visit George, a man who would be transitioning to Jamie's 9-month discipleship program.  Jaime found George in a very bad state, he was very drunk.  George was willing to go through the rehab program and when we arrived to see him, Jaime almost didn't recognize George. He'd given control of his life to God, and he was beaming with joy.

The guys are building a pig farm to generate money to fund rehab program for men ...

Two young ladies that were part of our RtH Team were Kelsey and Kadi. They went on a previous RtH mission's trip to Nicaragua and to serve Monica, Jamie's wife. As our trip planning came together we decided to ask the girls to put on a young lady's retreat (for women aged 13-22 years). Kelsey & Kadi did an amazing job to bless 15 girls with Bible teaching, dance lessons, crafts, great food, and a beautiful decorative retreat. Please read blogs written by Kelsey and Kadi to learn more from their perspectives.

We did some painting too...

We took about 150 pounds of donations including 10 new Talking Bibles in Spanish.  These Spanish Talking Bibles are the first one with Old Testament and well as New Testament.

Nicaragua Mission's Trip - Nov. 2 - 13, 2014 -- By Samuel Roberto

RtH Team to Nicaragua
I am so blessed and thankful that I was able to go on my first mission trip to Nicaragua with “Reaching the Hungry”.  In the past couple of years, I have been praying and asking God to allow me an opportunity to serve Him on the mission field. On November 2nd of 2014 I headed off on my first trip to Nicaragua, Central America. I was so excited, anxious, and had high expectations. In the two weeks that I was there, God blessed me with more than I could imagine. I had a much closer relationship with Him while I was down there and am still continuing to grow closer with God daily. My experience in Nicaragua really opened up my eyes and heart to see why being directly on the mission field can be a really important ministry.

While in Nicaragua, I was able to see the ministry that Jaime and Monica were called to do in Campo Gonia. We were able to clear paths by chopping down grass with machetes. We also built a new barbed wire fence made from trees we chopped down to provide more security for the ranch. The whole team and other locals were able to build a brick house for a 5000 gallon water tank which will be used for the ranch to provide more water to the people living there. In doing all this work we were able to build strong relationships with the people of Nicaragua, and also encourage Jaime and Monica in the ministry God has called them to do.

Besides the physical labor, we were blessed to get to know the local people by partnering with a few local ministries. One of the blessings was visiting inmates in prison. We divided into smaller teams and spent about 2 hours sharing and listening to those who were incarcerated. One of our team members got to share with hundreds on lock-down. He shared how he turned his life over to Christ in the Vista Jail and how God delivered him from 20-years of meth use.  After we left prison, we went to serve the homeless by putting on a worship service for them, then we served all that attended a hot lunch.

One of the three Jesus Film Outreach.

There are so many people in this world who need to hear the living truth of our Lord and Savior. During one of our Jesus film outreaches in Nicaragua, I had the opportunity to speak the truth of how the Lord has changed my life and why it’s important to have Him in our lives as our Lord and savior. I was so touched to see how many people in Nicaragua came to know Christ and accept Him into their lives, especially all the little children. It really stirred me inside and I want to continue to do missions and share the word of God no matter where I’m at in the world. The people in Nicaragua are awesome and very friendly, and I couldn't have asked for a better first experience in missions.
